It has been about five years since I’ve been up to the Founders brewpub on the Grand River in Grand Rapids, MI. Recently they announced the addition of a canning line, are in the midst of the second phase of a $26 million expansion of their facility, and have been touted as the fastest growing brewery in the country. Meanwhile they have been brewing one of the most consistently excellent lineup of regular beers and seasonal specialties in the region. It might be time for a return trip.
For the month of April we’ll be featuring their Dry Hopped Pale Ale on tap at both Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro and Murphy’s Bleachers. Something about this tribute to the Cascade hop in all its floral, citrusy glory to me invokes spring and the promise of sessionable beers on a patio as much as our long overdue spring thaw and the start of baseball. Drink up & sláinte.
